Duties & Responsibilities
- Affords students assistance in reviewing course material and problem-solving.
- Contributes to a supportive, cordial learning environment.
- Collaborates and conducts workshops and study groups for students.
- Engages in marketing activities such as class visits and new student orientations.
- Serves as a communication link and liaison between students and faculty.
- Guides students in selecting and utilizing resources to meet their learning needs.
- Maintains a weekly schedule of available appointment times for students.
- Preserves and organizes instructional materials (e.g., textbooks, calculators, software).
- Collects and analyzes relevant data.
- Participates in required tutor training.
- Supervises in the absence of a Learning Center Supervisor and assists with recruiting, screening, hiring, orienting, mentoring, and retaining new peer (student), and/or volunteer tutors.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Successful completion of thirty (30) hours of postsecondary course work, including a minimum of nine (9) hours in the specific discipline; content courses must be completed with a grade of B or better.
