Job Summary
The Tutor provides assistance in subjects as needed.
Additional Department Summary
Tutors and/or teaches course content. Guides students in meeting academic deadlines. Assists in the development of general study, planning, and time-management skills. Reviews, discusses, and explains course material in a clear, effective, and creative manner. Conducts test review sessions.
Required Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and expertise in subject to be tutored;
- OR a native speaker in foreign language.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications
- Must be available a minimum of two nights weekly from 6:30pm to 9:30pm.
Skills and Knowledge
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Sufficient academic knowledge of college undergraduate courses in one or more areas (business, computer science, engineering, English, foreign language, humanities, social science, math, natural science, etc.).
- Ability to assist students from a variety of backgrounds and experiences, including entering freshmen, continuing, and international students.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advance degree.
- Experience as a school teacher or counselor, college instructor, and/or graduate teaching assistant (GTA).
