Tutor - Before/After School Non-Certified Part Time

About the role

The Before/After-School Certified Tutor is responsible for providing professional instruction designed to support academic, social, physical, and skill development for students in specific grades/subject areas. The role aims to prepare students to be successful citizens and workers by creating individualized tutoring plans, assessing and documenting student progress, and reinforcing classroom learning.

Responsibilities

• Develop tutoring plans for each student, detailing individual goals and suggested enrichment activities for both home and school.
• Assess and document student progress.
• Develop and assist students with academic exercises and class activities, focusing on small groups or individuals as needed.
• Compile, prepare, and organize materials and classrooms for instruction and other learning activities.
• Reinforce knowledge and skills taught by the classroom teacher.
• Assist teachers with academic instruction and daily routines, skills, and concepts as needed.
• Provide instructional support and reinforcement to students identified as needing tutoring services.
• Utilize effective instructional practices, behavior management strategies, assessment techniques, and directed teaching methods.
• Collect and compile statistical data for accountability and program development.
• Collect, organize, and complete information necessary for reports and evaluations.
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with teachers.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate’s Degree, or two (2) years of college (minimum of 48 semester hours) from an accredited institution.
• OR a passing score on the ParaPro Assessment Test and one (1) year of experience working with children in an educational setting (preferred).
• Must possess or be able to obtain certification in CPR and First Aid.
• Proof of education, training, and/or experience is required.

Degree Equivalency Formula:

• Bachelor’s Degree = 4 years plus required years of experience.
• Master’s Degree = 2 years plus required years of experience.
• Where Master’s degrees are required, years for Bachelor’s Degrees must be included.
