Tutor - Before/After School Non-Certified Part Time

About the role

The Before/After-School Certified Tutor is responsible for providing professional instruction designed to foster academic, social, physical, and skill development for students in specific grades/subject areas, preparing them to be successful citizens and workers.

Responsibilities

• Generate tutoring plans for each student that detail individual goals and suggested enrichment activities for both home and during school.
• Assess and document student progress.
• Develop and assist students with academic exercises and class activities.
• Concentrate efforts with small groups of students and individuals as necessary.
• Compile, prepare, and organize materials and classroom for instruction and other learning activities.
• Reinforce all knowledge and skills taught by the classroom teacher.
• Assist the teacher with academic instruction and the instruction of daily routines, skills, and concepts as needed.
• Provide instructional support and reinforcement to students identified as needing tutoring services.
• Utilize effective instructional practices, behavior management strategies, assessment techniques, and directed teaching methods.
• Collect and compile statistical data as needed for accountability and program development.
• Collect, organize, and complete information necessary for reports and evaluation.
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with the teacher.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate’s Degree, or two (2) years of college (minimum of 48 semester hours) from an accredited institution, or a passing score on the ParaPro Assessment Test.
• One (1) year of experience working with children in an educational setting preferred.
• Must possess or be able to obtain certification in CPR and First Aid.
• Proof of education, training, and/or experience is required.

Qualifications

Degree equivalency formula:

• Bachelor’s Degree = 4 years plus required years of experience.
• Master’s Degree = 2 years plus required years of experience.
• Where Master’s degrees are required, years for Bachelor’s Degrees must be included.
