Responsibilities
- Promote a safe, welcoming, and positive learning environment for all students
- Actively supervise students and ensure their safety and well-being at all times
- Model positive, proactive attitudes, behaviors, and respectful language
- Maintain professional, age-appropriate communication, behavior, and attire at all times
- Communicate regularly with the After School Program Director to ensure consistency and alignment with program expectations
- Provide homework assistance and academic support to program participants
- Facilitate and support academic instruction using the curriculum and skill-building activities provided by the After School Program Director
- Clearly communicate directions and expectations for assigned activities and coursework
- Plan and lead engaging enrichment, recreational, and physical activities that promote student participation and learning
- Encourage and support students in developing the academic, social, and life skills needed for success
- Ensure classrooms, shared spaces, and program equipment are clean, organized, and properly maintained
- Maintain accurate attendance records and complete required documentation, including incident reporting, in accordance with the After School Program Handbook
- Complete assigned responsibilities and meet established deadlines consistently
- Attend and actively participate in all required staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities
- Demonstrate dependable attendance and punctuality
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous experience working in an after-school program, childcare, school, or youth-focused setting preferred
- Experience working with elementary and/or middle school students preferred
- Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and support their academic, social, and emotional growth
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work collaboratively with students and staff
- Ability to meet all required background check and employment requirements
