Turquoise Ridge - Refinery Operator

About the role

We are looking for a Refinery Operator to join our team at Turquoise Ridge operations. The successful candidate will ensure safe and efficient operation of various processing circuits and equipment in a dynamic mining environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Follow procedures that utilize equipment and instruments critical to monitoring process performance.
• Understand and comply with environmental permit limits.
• Maintain accurate records for metallurgical accounting and process control.
• Operate production machinery and equipment such as overhead cranes, valves, and gauges to maximize production.
• Open and/or secure vaults and prepare gold bullion for shipment.
• Collect samples for metallurgical accounting and process control.
• Operate electrowinning cells, mercury retort furnaces, smelting furnaces, carbon filters, zinc precipitation circuits, and slag handling circuits.
• Attach lockout devices (following company procedure) to electrical equipment during maintenance.
• Identify preventative maintenance needs to prevent loss to property and process.
• Complete operator reports and time entry accurately.
• Work as needed on weekends and holidays.
• Respond to emergencies that could cause injury or loss of production.
• Communicate daily operations with the refinery supervisor.
• Maintain accurate records of required process variables.
• Operate various processing circuits/equipment, including but not limited to:
  • Grinding circuits (wet/dry)
  • Crushing circuits (jaw/gyro/cone)
  • Carbon-in-leach and resin-in-leach systems
  • Elution (carbon/resin)
  • Autoclaves and roasters
  • Thickeners, boilers, and water treatment systems
  • Off gas/gas handling and reagent handling systems
  • Electrowinning and retort/induction furnaces
• Monitor and control water and slurry flows, reagent addition, and equipment such as conveyors, pumps, valves, and piping.
• Make calculations and adjustments to maintain operating parameters within limits.
• Inspect and check all components of operating systems and equipment regularly.

The ability to work a rotating schedule of nights and days is an essential function of this role.

Requirements

• Demonstrated initiative, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn.
• Ability to follow directions and work under minimal supervision.
• Proven safety and attendance record.
• Understanding of computer applications such as Word and Excel.
• Ability to communicate and effectively work with a variety of individuals (e.g., operations, maintenance, metallurgists, and lab personnel).
• Ability to perform the essential functions of this job.
