Turf Sales Representative

About the role
The Turf Sales Representative is responsible for building and maintaining positive customer relationships to strengthen customer loyalty and dealer reputation. This role focuses on customer engagement, achieving sales and margin targets, and coordinating cross-functional teamwork to support customers. The Turf Sales Representative reports to the Segment Sales Manager.
Responsibilities
- Achieve targeted and agreed-upon sales goals (volume and margin).
- Build and maintain positive customer relationships to strengthen customer loyalty and dealer reputation.
- Continually improve personal selling capabilities to respond to customer needs effectively.
- Actively identify, seek, and obtain new prospects.
- Review and implement technology solutions that create immediate and long-term results.
- Share information, solutions, and ideas that challenge the customer’s thinking leveraging ROI, productivity, and efficiency data.
- Effectively follow and support AVE-PLP's sales process, including follow-up and timely, accurate completion of all paperwork and used equipment listing details.
- Maintain a customer list and ensure scheduled and consistent customer contacts leveraging the HUB.
- Maintain a working knowledge of used equipment values, effectively describe equipment condition, and ensure competitive and profitable future sales.
- Coordinate, engage, and communicate with Store Managers, Parts, and Service to support customer needs.
- Communicate with Product Innovation and Product Support to deliver equipment and technology performance and optimization data.
- Plan and document customer interactions and meetings leveraging the HUB.
- Perform other duties as required to ensure the success of AVE-PLP.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) equivalent is required.
- One year of equipment sales experience is preferred; experience in an agriculture dealership is a plus.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
- Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
- Passing a driving record (MVR), criminal history background check, employment verification, and drug screen is required prior to employment.
Skills
- Ability to consistently promote, support, and act in alignment with AVE-PLP’s vision, mission, and values.
- Strong knowledge of used equipment values and ability to evaluate properly for trading purposes.
- Knowledge of and ability to follow the Dealer Selling Process.
- Knowledge of John Deere and competitive products, with a focus on small tractors, turf, and compact construction equipment; ability to demonstrate features and benefits.
- Ability to maintain positive and professional working relationships with peers, management, and support resources, with a commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service.
- Knowledge of current financing options to assist customers with securing purchases.
- Ability to analyze and interpret basic sales reports.
- Proficiency in standard desktop applications such as Microsoft Office and internet functions.
- Strong ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees, and peers.
Working Environment
- Travel to customer locations, meetings, and other store locations on a regular basis is necessary.
- Occasional outdoor work in extreme weather conditions (hot/cold); walking on uneven terrain; occasional exposure to insects.
- Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and vibration.
- Moderate noise level in the work environment.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required, including cold weather gear, eye protection, gloves, and provided uniform.
- A clean and safety-conscientious work environment is required.
- Work may involve long hours and overtime during holidays, weekends, and evenings.
- May be required to rotate on-call responsibilities.
Physical Demands
- Ability to stand, sit, walk, and walk on unpaved terrain.
- Ability to talk, reach with arms and hands, and have good manual dexterity.
- Ability to use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard, handle or feel objects, and hear alarms/telephones/normal speaking voice.
- Moderate physical activity required by moving and positioning objects up to 50 pounds occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
