About the Role
The Tufting Apprentice aids in the service and repair of all tufting-related machines and equipment in the department to prepare for becoming a Tufting Maintenance Technician.
Responsibilities
- Help troubleshoot and fix tufting machines, warpers, and other department equipment.
- Assist with correct style set-up in tufting machines.
- Help machine operators with set-up as needed.
- Work on machine lines, blades, loopers, and other components.
- Reblade and rehook machines as necessary.
- Rebuild and overhaul machines as required.
- Ensure first-quality carpet production and notify supervisor of any quality issues.
Performance Expectations
- Lift machine parts and tools of various weights multiple times per shift.
- Stand for approximately 6 hours per shift.
- Perform reaching, stooping, and bending multiple times throughout the shift.
- Operate a lift truck.
- Use tools continuously during the shift.
- Climb underneath or on top of machines as needed.
- Occasionally climb, balance, and kneel.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, division, multiplication).
- Computer knowledge or data entry skills required.
- Must be trained in Lockout/Tagout procedures.
- Wear required safety equipment.
- Report quality, safety, or potential problems to management.
- Overtime may be required occasionally.
- All accidents must be reported immediately.
