Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily tube mill operations to meet production schedules, quality standards, and cost objectives.
- Develop and adjust production schedules as needed to support customer and business requirements.
- Supervise mill changeovers, start-ups, and shutdowns to ensure efficiency and minimal downtime.
- Actively participate in breakdowns, bottlenecks, and scheduled downtime to restore operations quickly.
- Train, coach, and develop tube mill employees to improve performance, skill levels, and engagement.
- Provide hands-on leadership by working alongside employees on the shop floor as needed.
- Manage employee timesheets, training records, and disciplinary actions in coordination with HR.
- Ensure proper staffing levels by assisting with interviews and finding coverage for vacations and call-offs.
- Ensure all products meet quality requirements and support quality audits as needed.
- Complete and maintain all required production, operating, and quality reports accurately and on time.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to enhance safety, quality, efficiency, and cost control.
- Communicate equipment irregularities or malfunctions to management and maintenance teams.
- Absorb and assist with repairs and preventative maintenance activities as required.
- Enforce company safety policies and OSHA regulations to maintain a clean, safe, and organized workplace.
- Promote safe work practices and actively address unsafe conditions or behaviors.
- Collaborate with other supervisors, production teams, maintenance, and quality departments to ensure smooth operations.
- Communicate expectations, priorities, and performance feedback clearly and professionally.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3–5 years of supervisory experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
- Prior steel industry experience required; tube mill experience preferred.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop teams.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work overtime and adapt to changing production demands.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Computer literacy, including experience with production reporting systems and Microsoft Office.
- Quality audit experience preferred, specifically ISO 9001.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to work in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Ability to stand, walk, and perform hands-on tasks for extended periods.
- Ability to respond quickly to equipment issues or production interruptions.
