About the role

The Distributions Manager – Columbia Private Trust is responsible for managing all aspects of the firm’s outgoing distributions, transfers, and rollover activity. This includes maintaining efficient operations, quality of service, and compliance standards across multiple asset and client types. Processing activities include cash transfers, asset transfers, rollovers, recharacterizations, and beneficiary processing. The primary goal is to ensure compliant, accurate, and timely processing of client distribution and transfer requests.

  • Provide day-to-day leadership of the team, including mentoring and coaching in a challenging and ever-changing work environment.
  • Ensure all team-related goals for operational excellence and client service are met or exceeded.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external partners to gain efficiencies in cash and securities processing.
  • Train and oversee staff training in re-registration, transfers out, and distributions.
  • Delegate tasks and monitor workflow to support cross-training and productivity.
  • Monitor employee work performance, prepare evaluations, and coach on performance improvement.
  • Interview, hire, and terminate employees in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Maintain departmental desk procedures for each functional area.
  • Coordinate and implement projects aligned with Trust Company and department objectives.
  • Act as project lead or specialist for assigned projects.
  • Serve as operational liaison for projects related to re-registration, transfers out, and distributions.
  • Ensure timely completion and implementation of special projects.
  • Recommend and implement workflow changes to strengthen consistent processing.
  • Stay current on regulations or industry trends affecting team operations.
  • Supervise processing and quality control of outgoing cash disbursements (check, wire, ACH, ACATS) and asset distributions.
  • Assist in developing and executing the team’s strategic initiatives with internal partners.
  • Provide clarity and guidance on escalated issues; personally resolve client escalations as needed.
  • Proactively seek and implement efficiencies, procedural changes, or new developments.
  • Ensure prompt and accurate posting of customer transactions.
  • Supervise the required minimum distribution (RMD) process.
  • Assist the director in preparing documentation for audits and regulatory exams.
  • Demonstrate compliance with bank regulations and stay updated on changes.
  • Follow all Bank policies, compliance regulations, and complete required training.
  • Maintain knowledge of Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, and other applicable regulations.
  • May coach, mentor, or train others as a subject matter expert.
  • Actively foster the Columbia Private Trust corporate culture.

Requirements

  • Formal college-level training/education in business or trust, or equivalent experience.
  • 8 years of experience in Trust Operations.
  • 3 years of direct leadership experience in a financial services environment.
  • Certified IRA Services Professional (CISP) and/or Retirement Industry Trust Association (RITA) certified Self Directed IRA Industry Professional (SDIP) preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of departmental and business goals and their contribution to the Trust Company.
  • Knowledge of facilitating complex transactions related to alternative investments.
  • Excellent communication skills, including clear conveyance of detailed information and report writing.
  • Effective time and project management skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of Trust Accounting Systems, computer operating systems, networking, and software.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and under minimal supervision, sometimes under tight schedules.
  • Well-developed analytical skills.
  • Team leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Training and mentoring skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective staff supervision.
  • Occasional travel required.

Pay

The base pay range for this role is $89,000.00 to $127,000.00. The pay rate depends on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, education, and geographic location. The role may be eligible for performance-based incentive compensation.

Ability to work fully onsite at the posted location: 1801 California Street Suite 800, Denver, CO 80202.
