Team Overview
The Edward Jones Trust Company (EJTC) works alongside clients, their professional advisors (such as estate attorneys or tax professionals), and financial advisors to support clients' legacies with precision, objectivity, and care. Through trust administration, discretionary investment management, estate settlement, and complex asset management, we provide specialized expertise to reduce burdens on loved ones and ensure clients' intentions and values are honored.
Responsibilities
- Daily management of trust accounts in accordance with governing instruments (trust agreements, wills, powers of attorney, and related contracts), Edward Jones Trust Company guidelines, and federal/state fiduciary standards.
- Conduct deep discovery for asset identification, gathering, and analysis.
- Onboard new client and branch relationships; develop, strengthen, and retain client, beneficiary, and branch team relationships.
- Review, understand, and interpret complex legal documents (trust agreements, wills, powers of attorney, and contracts) to limit regulatory and legal risk.
- Discuss and explain tax and estate planning concepts and trust terms with beneficiaries and financial advisors.
- Manage client service in collaboration with Trust Company and Operations associates, branch teams, attorneys, CPAs, and outside business professionals.
- Balance the needs of grantors, current beneficiaries, and future beneficiaries; communicate this analysis effectively to all parties.
- Coordinate the management and risk mitigation of special assets and real estate.
- Serve on Trust Company committees, participate in business planning, or other initiatives as requested.
Requirements
- Professional certification (e.g., CTFA, CFP, CPA, JD) strongly preferred.
- At least 5+ years of trust, estate management, or related legal/financial services experience.
- Knowledge of trust principles, including fiduciary responsibilities, gifting, trust management, estate planning, taxes, and investment principles.
- Demonstrated ability to balance compliance, legal, and business decisions.
- Ability to work in a team-based environment, delegate work, and lead meetings effectively.
- Experience leading client meetings with financial advisors and tax/legal professionals.
- Proficiency in trust accounting systems, Microsoft products, and other automation tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly in explaining complex legal matters to clients with varying levels of expertise.
- High level of interpersonal skills and ability to train, delegate, and informally lead others.
Candidates within a commutable distance of Tempe, AZ or St. Louis, MO home offices are expected to work in the office four days per week.
