About the role
A premier law firm known for its sophisticated wealth management practice has partnered with our legal recruiting firm to find a skilled Trusts & Estates Planning Attorney to join their team in Cleveland, Ohio. This position is ideal for an attorney who thrives in a collaborative, in-office environment and wants to work closely with high-net-worth individuals, families, and business owners. You will handle complex estate planning, tax strategy, and trust administration, providing tailored legal solutions with the highest level of client service.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft and review sophisticated estate planning documents, including revocable and irrevocable trusts, wills, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives.
- Advise clients on wealth preservation, federal and Ohio state estate/gift tax minimization, generation-skipping transfer (GST) tax strategies, and income tax planning.
- Structure business succession plans, family limited partnerships (FLPs), and charitable giving vehicles.
- Guide executors and trustees through the Ohio probate process, trust administration, and asset distribution, ensuring compliance with all legal and tax obligations.
- Act as a trusted advisor, conducting detailed consultations to understand client goals and maintain long-term relationships.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and active, good-standing admission to the Ohio State Bar. An LL.M. in Taxation or Estate Planning is highly advantageous.
- 3–7+ years of dedicated experience in trust and estates law.
- Strong drafting skills and deep knowledge of federal and state estate tax laws, as well as the Ohio Trust Code.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, empathy, and the ability to explain complex legal and financial concepts clearly to clients.
