About the role

We are offering an opportunity for a highly motivated, ambitious individual to join our well-integrated team. The successful candidate will participate in the registrar on-call rota, covering both gynaecology and obstetrics, including delivery suite cover, acute gynaecology, and early pregnancy. We operate a 1 in 8 on-call rota, including nights and weekends.

Daytime activities include antenatal clinics, general gynaecology clinics, rapid access, theatre cover, outpatient hysteroscopy, and specialist clinics such as urogynaecology, fetal medicine, and endometriosis. This role supports the tier 2 rota, allowing participation in educational sessions and rotation into specialist areas. It is ideal for those needing registrar-level experience in the UK, offering high levels of consultant supervision.

This is a fixed-term post available immediately until April 2027.

Responsibilities

• Participate in on-call cover on a 1 in 8 rolling basis (covering delivery suite, antenatal and postnatal wards, early pregnancy, and acute gynaecology).
• Support daytime activities including clinics, day case procedures, and theatres.
• Engage in departmental audit, teaching, and risk management.
• Work with an allocated educational and clinical supervisor to collect portfolio evidence and develop skills in your area of interest.

Requirements

Education and Qualifications

• Essential:
  • Primary Medical Qualification.
  • Full GMC registration or eligibility to obtain this within 3 months (or within 6 months for non-EEA applicants).
• Desirable:
  • MRCOG.

Clinical Skills and Knowledge

• Essential:
  • Good history and examination skills.
  • Able to carry out basic caesarean section independently.
  • Can safely undertake speculum examination and antenatal checks.
  • Able to formulate a working diagnosis.
  • Able to order appropriate investigations and interpret images relevant to practice.
  • Knows when to appropriately seek assistance from a senior colleague.
• Desirable:
  • Competent at instrumental delivery.
  • Able to safely run labour ward with consultant support.

Management and Administration Experience

• Essential:
  • Ability to run a service and participate in the management process.
  • Committed to sharing in professional, managerial, and teaching responsibilities.
  • Able to communicate well with patients and colleagues.
  • Understanding of Clinical Governance.
• Desirable:
  • Proven management and administration ability.
  • Understanding of management goals.
  • Experience with audit.
  • Evidence of leadership/project management.
  • Evidence of having implemented change.

Teaching

• Essential:
  • Experience of supervising junior staff.
  • Ability to teach clinical skills.

Clinical Governance, Audit, and Research

• Essential:
  • Experience of audit projects.
