About the Role
Create roof truss layouts to verify roof planes and pitches, locate bearing lines, and girder placement for new models, elevations, or options. Configure lot-specific truss layouts for permit packages. Design individual roof and floor trusses to aid structural engineers in load transfer and to determine feasibility of manufacturing, shipping, and construction. Coordinate with manufacturing plant personnel and adhere to their standards.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret architectural and structural plans to develop accurate wood truss designs for single-family residential projects.
- Produce truss layout plans and individual truss designs using MiTek software.
- Adhere to team processes, standards, and schedules.
- Coordinate with engineers, architectural staff, and manufacturing plant personnel.
Requirements
- Familiar with MiTek, Alpine, or Simpson truss design software (MiTek preferred).
- Basic knowledge of residential wood construction.
- Ability to collaborate with staff within and across departments.
- Strong work ethic.
Qualifications
- Essential:
- Truss certification on any Design for Manufacturing software.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in production wood component design.
- Ability to follow established procedures and meet expectations for accuracy and timeliness.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Preferred:
- MiTek software experience.
- Residential wood construction knowledge.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with others.
