Truck Driving Instructor Part-Time
About the role
The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Crump is seeking a part-time Truck Driving Adjunct Instructor to teach at the Parsons Campus in Parsons, Tennessee. Classes are scheduled two nights a week (5 p.m. – 9 p.m.) and Saturdays (7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.).
Responsibilities
- Teach all phases of the program including safety regulations; CDL regulations, traffic laws, road atlas and highway routes; instruments and cab controls; engine and air brake systems, adverse weather condition driving techniques; hazardous materials transportation; clutch, gear and transmission patterns; coupling and uncoupling trailers, obstacle course and backing procedures; defensive driving; and over-the-road driving experiences.
- Aid with student placement and follow-up; participate in recruitment of students; cooperate with outside agencies; work with the program advisory committee; conduct visits to related businesses and industries; and establish and maintain good public relations within the college’s service area.
- Assist with curriculum development and updates, student record keeping, professional development activities, and student organizations.
Requirements
- High school diploma
- Valid commercial driver's license in Tennessee
- Minimum of five years' recent experience as over-the-road driver with an exemplary record
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to organize and provide instructional activities
Qualifications
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stoop, stand and work, with or without accommodation, to demonstrate and perform all work-based projects.
- Use of computer
- Normal standing, sitting, and walking
- Operating a motor vehicle to travel within the college service area and in other areas as needed.
Benefits
Salary: $32.00 per hour
