Truck Driver / Shannon

About the role

This position is for a CDL Driver based out of our local polyurethane foam manufacturing facility in Shannon, MS.

Responsibilities

• Check delivery schedule and receive assignment from supervisor (starting times will vary with occasional overnight runs).
• Drive tractor-trailer to assigned destination, exercising caution and good driving skills in areas with limited space and heavy traffic.
• Back trailers into dock or unloading area as instructed by the customer.
• Unload product to dock or per customer's instructions.
• Fill out delivery ticket recording quantity delivered and obtain customer signature.
• Perform daily vehicle inspection as required by DOT regulations and record findings in a log book.
• Check oil, fuel, tires, batteries, and other vehicle components; report any defects to supervisor.
• Maintain a driver's log book as required by DOT regulations (for deliveries over 100 miles).
• Assist in the loading and unloading of trailers when needed.
• Load outgoing trucks and pull finished goods tags as part of shipping and receiving operations.

Requirements

• Must be at least 22 years of age.
• Must be able to read and speak English sufficiently to converse with the public, understand highway signs, respond to inquiries, and complete reports.
• Must have a current-valid driver's license (CDL not required for vehicles with GVWR/GCWR of 26,001 lbs or less).
• Must have a complete DOT file on record per company policy.
• Must pass a DOT physical prior to hire and annually thereafter.
• Must successfully complete a pre-employment DOT controlled substance test with a negative result.
• Must have a valid Medical Examination Report from a Corporate Logistics-Compliance approved facility.
• Must meet all DOT and company policy requirements.
• Must pass a driver's road test examination.
• Must score average or better on the Driver Rating Point System.

Driver Qualifications

• No alcohol convictions within the previous 10 years; no more than 1 offense in a lifetime (none in a CMV).
• No controlled substance convictions within the previous 15 years; no more than 1 offense in a lifetime (none in a CMV).
• No previous employer positive controlled substance or alcohol test.
• No felonies within the previous 15 years; no more than 1 offense in a lifetime (none in a CMV).
• No misdemeanors within the previous 5 years (excludes moving violations; moving violations are subject to the Driver Rating System).
