TRUCK DRIVER - PROJECT

About the role

Drive and operate a light water truck vehicle (under 26,000 pounds GVW) primarily to maintain gravel/clay road surfaces at optimal moisture content. May also perform physical labor tasks at construction sites, assist craft workers, and operate as part of a construction crew.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a water truck and other equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment daily (e.g., gas, oil, water, tires, lights, brakes).
  • Report mechanical problems with vehicles.
  • Perform emergency repairs (e.g., changing tires, installing light bulbs, fuses, tire chains, or spark plugs).
  • Fill truck tank with water and spray designated areas.
  • Adhere to safety policies, including passing a trench-operation safety test.
  • Control traffic near, in, or around work zones.
  • Load or unload construction materials.
  • Lubricate, clean, or repair machinery, equipment, or tools.
  • Assist craft workers as needed.
  • Dismantle equipment or temporary structures.
  • Mix, pour, or spread concrete and other materials.
  • Maintain hand and power tools.
  • Dig holes or trenches.
  • Operate pumps or compressors.
  • Prepare construction sites by cleaning and eliminating hazards.
  • Gather and distribute supplies and tools on the jobsite.
  • Respond quickly to foreman’s directions.
  • Observe safety procedures and report unsafe conditions to management.

Requirements

  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Class B CDL License with air and tanker endorsements.
  • Able to pass a drug test.
  • Legally eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Own transportation to and from the jobsite daily (driver’s license not required).
  • Provide own hand tools (excluding power tools), if applicable.
  • Willingness to travel for multi-state projects.
  • Ability to physically and repetitively lift and carry at least 50 pounds.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of water trucks and other road construction equipment.
  • Understanding of road construction materials and processes.
  • Experience in construction preferred.
