About the Role

The Role Our site in Prairie View, Texas is seeking an Over the Road Truck Driver to join our team. The position can be based anywhere that is commutable to our Prairie View site for pickup and loading, or the truck can be parked at your home at the end of each week if a safe parking location is available. The role is Monday through Friday, with work hours as needed to complete the job according to Federal driving regulations. Some weekend work may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer delivery of chemicals and safely operate a diesel, multi-gear bobtail truck/pup and/or tractor-trailer combination vehicle.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on vehicles used for chemical deliveries.
  • Absorb and follow all safety procedures and practices applicable to the location and position.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date delivery location maps and operate in compliance with DOT regulations for transporting hazardous materials.
  • Maintain driver’s hours of service and logbook reporting.
  • Maintain regular communication with the fleet office and supervisor to report field problems and/or safety hazards.
  • Wear appropriate safety gear at all times during delivery operations.
  • Stay current on safety techniques and improve driving and safety skills.
  • Recognize and avoid safety hazards in the work environment.
  • DOT Compliant Tanker Endorsement – minimum 1 year.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Current Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Tanker endorsement and Medical Card
  • Three (3) years of commercial driving experience, aligned with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and DOT regulations, in the past five years
  • Acceptable motor vehicle record for past 5 years
  • Able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 lbs
  • Experience with forklifts, drum dollies, trailer hoists, chemical pumps, hoses, meters, printers and gauges preferred
  • Experience with handling products in various types of packages including bulk and drums preferred
  • Experience in customer relations preferred
  • Experience performing warehouse duties, which include preventative maintenance duties, inventory and ordering of chemicals, receiving incoming shipments, coordinating warehouse for safe and efficient chemical storage, operation of customized chemical manufacturing equipment and the upkeep of warehouse grounds preferred
  • Awareness of chemical safety and the measures to take in the event of skin contact or spill preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Requires manual lifting of up to 50 lbs
  • Capable of standing and kneeling for a duration of time
  • May require pulling heavy hoses, strapping stock, and getting on top of the transport
