Truck Driver - Lumber (Class A)

Responsibilities

• Drives truck and trailer to deliver products to customer locations in a safe and timely manner.
• Ensures adherence to all company, DOT, state, and federal transportation safety regulations.
• Maintains a strong focus on safety, quality, and efficiency while performing all duties.
• Drives truck and trailer to pick up and deliver assigned products, lumber, logs, residuals, etc. on time as required.

Qualifications

• Completion of truck driving school with a minimum of one year of over the road experience; or three to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Requires Class "A" Driver’s License, current DOT physical examination card, and clean DMV record.
• Position requires travel outside the local area but usually within the state up to 75% of the time.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Regularly required to sit and remain alert while driving for an aggregate period of up to 12 hours (intrastate).
• Must be able to shift a manual transmission and operate foot pedals; must be able to perform occasional squatting and crouching to handle and position freight; and enter and exit the vehicle’s cab 8 to 10 times a day or more.
• Cab floor level is generally from 36 to 66 inches above ground level, with entry and exit achieved with the assistance of various configurations of steps and handholds.
• Requires occasional bending, twisting, climbing, squatting, crouching and balancing.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds of varying size and shape a distance of at least 1 foot but usually no more than 50 feet.
• Must be able to frequently reach freight at waist level and occasionally reach for freight above shoulder height or below waist level.
• Must be able to spend at least 40% of the day standing and 20% of the day walking on surfaces such as concrete, wood, dirt and metal, and sometimes on slippery and wet surfaces.
