Truck Driver Garbage Trucks

About the role

Sunshine Disposal & Recycling has an opening for a full-time Refuse Truck Driver in our Airway Heights, WA business unit. This is a Monday-Friday shift with a 5:00am start time. Some seasonal overtime may be required.

Responsibilities

• Operate refuse collection trucks in residential and commercial locations
• Arrive to work on time and receive paperwork and/or tablet
• Perform Pre-trip inspection of the truck and complete DVIR form
• Drive truck as routed and use provided dispatch and route information
• Open and close container lids as needed and note any maintenance issues
• Communicate effectively with the Route Supervisor and Operations Manager
• Return truck to yard at end of workday and perform basic clean out of truck body and cab
• Perform vehicle post-trip inspection and submit route work information to Supervisor or office
• Attend all necessary meetings as scheduled
• Perform all other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Interstate registered Class A or B CDL required, with no Air Brake restriction
• Valid USDOT Medical Certificate (med card) required
• Must meet insurance carrier requirements for driving record
• Subject to USDOT/FMCSA drug and alcohol testing rules
• Basic computer literacy required, with on-the-job training provided for industry-specific programs
• Two (2) years of CDL driving experience of Class A and B commercial vehicles required

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a strong safety record, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Skills

Basic computer literacy, ability to operate foot and hand controls, and excellent communication skills are required.

Pay

The current wage is $32.50 per hour, with wage bumps of forty cents each 6 months of employment up to 5 years, and an annual COLA beginning in 2027.
