About the Role
The Driver - SCM is responsible for driving a tractor-trailer or straight truck on intrastate and interstate local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight and drive-and-drop routes to deliver and/or unload food and food-related products to customers safely and on time, in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. This role involves professional communication with customers, vendors, and coworkers, and requires functioning as a team member to support the company’s food distribution system.
Responsibilities
- Perform all required safety checks (pre/post trip), including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations; report safety issues or needed repairs.
- Follow DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines; immediately report safety hazards.
- Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight; verify count and customer invoices.
- Complete all required paperwork accurately and legibly.
- Deliver customer orders according to predetermined route schedules; unload products and transport items to designated storage areas.
- Perform damage control checks, scan items, and follow company policy for removing orders.
- Verify deliveries with customers and obtain signatures; collect payments where required.
- Load customer returns onto the trailer and secure trailer doors.
- Ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are locked and secured at all times.
- Unload damaged goods and customer returns; complete necessary paperwork.
- Complete daily records of hours of service and log entries in accordance with federal, state, and company requirements.
- Perform general housekeeping duties in the tractor, loading dock area, and trailers.
- Secure all equipment and complete end-of-shift paperwork.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
- 12+ months of commercial tractor/trailer experience.
- Valid CDL-A license.
- Must be 21+ years of age.
- Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable).
- Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years.
- Pass post-offer drug test and criminal background check.
- Pass a road test.
- Valid current DOT Health Card or ability to secure one.
- Able to hand-lift and use equipment (e.g., two-wheeler, lift gate) to move product cases/freight weighing between 10–90 pounds throughout the shift.
Pay
Driver pay is a $1,250 minimum weekly guarantee (must meet weekly requirements). Drivers can earn $65,000 or more per year.
Schedule
- Home nightly with local routes.
- Weekends off.
- Monday to Friday shift with a 3:00 AM – 6:00 AM dispatch time.
