Ryder is hiring a Casual Part-time Class A CDL Truck Driver in Elkhart, IN. This role offers a driving career with weekly pay, excellent benefits, and well-maintained, safe trucks (36 months or newer) featuring 24/7 roadside maintenance and nationwide fueling at over 800 locations.
Pay
- Hourly Pay: $29.00 per hour
- $750/week guaranteed pay
- Paid training
- Loyalty Bonus: $4,000 (paid as $2,000 at 6 months and $2,000 at 1 year)
Schedule
- Monday - Friday (occasional Saturdays) or Sunday - Thursday
- Shift: 5:00 AM - 1:00 PM or 5:00 PM - 5:00 AM (on-call basis)
Route & Equipment
- Route: Local
- Tractor Type: Day Cab, Straight Truck, or Box Truck
- Trailer Type: Dry Van, Reefer, Flatbed, Conestoga
- Equipment: Pallet Jack, Lift Gate, Dolly, Strapping, & Tarping
- Freight: Mix of touch and no-touch, including RV industry products, appliances, awnings, garage doors, food-grade items, home goods, and telecommunications supplies
- Must be able to operate a manual transmission

Requirements
- Minimum 21 years of age
- Pass a Ryder drug test, background check, and motor vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years)
- Pass a DOT physical and Ryder road test
- Provide appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position
- Class A verifiable experience in a tractor trailer or comparable vehicle:
- 9 months experience within the past 3 years, or
- 2 years’ experience within the last 5 years, or
- 5 years’ experience within the last 10 years
- Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures
- Some positions may require additional screening, including employment/education verification, motor vehicle records check, and customer-specific badging or background requirements
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and agency rules, standards, and guidelines
- Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards
- Maintain accurate records and logs
- Load/unload freight or assist in loading/unloading as required by the customer
- Perform other duties as assigned
