Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate a Class A CDL flatbed truck to transport steel materials.
- Secure steel products using appropriate strapping, chains, and other securement methods to prevent damage during transit.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, regulations, and company policies while driving on public roads.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck, ensuring that all mechanical and safety components are in proper working order.
- Follow designated routes and schedules to ensure timely delivery to customers.
- Assist with loading and unloading material using forklifts, cranes, and other equipment as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including mileage, fuel consumption, and any incidents or delays encountered during transportation.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and team members to coordinate delivery schedules and address any concerns or issues that may arise.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and the handling of hazardous materials, if applicable
- Dedicated Conestoga trailers - NO TARPING ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Role Requirements
- A valid CDL with appropriate weight classification.
- 2 years of verifiable Tractor Trailer Experience preferred.
- 1 year flatbed and steel experience preferred. (Training will be provided to ideal candidates)
- Knowledge of all applicable DOT Regulations and Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
- Able to pass pre-employment DOT physical and background check.
- Strong customer service skills and a professional attitude.
- Acceptable MVR Report Abstracts. No more than 2 moving violations within the past 36 months.
- Steel, Heavy Haul, and Oversized Freight experience a highlighted asset
- Knowledge of FMCSA and State D.O.T.
EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE
- Knowledgeable and experienced in Load Securement (strapping, chaining, tarping).
Physical Demands
- Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks, including bending, stooping, and climbing in and out of the truck.
- Comfortable working in various weather conditions and environments, including exposure to heat, cold, rain, and dust.
Work Environment
- Primarily outdoor work environment, involving regular travel and transportation of steel materials.
- Exposure to noise, vibrations, and potentially hazardous materials.
