About the role

Ryder is hiring a Class B CDL Truck Driver in Nitro, West Virginia. This local, home-daily position offers weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a driving career with well-maintained, safe trucks (36 months or newer) featuring 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling at over 800 nationwide locations.

Pay

  • $1,250 average per week
  • Hourly pay: $25.00 per hour
  • Average 45–50 hours per week
  • Paid training

Schedule: Monday–Friday, starting at 5:00 PM.

Route & Equipment

  • Route: Local, home daily
  • Tractor type: Straight truck
  • Trailer type: Straight truck flatbed (experience preferred)
  • Equipment: Pallet jack, forklift
  • Freight: Loading/unloading heavy equipment and automotive parts

Requirements

  • Minimum 21 years of age
  • Pass a Ryder drug test, background check, and motor vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years)
  • Pass a DOT physical and Ryder road test
  • Provide appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position
  • Class B verifiable experience in a tractor trailer or comparable vehicle:
    • 9 months experience within the past 3 years, OR
    • 2 years’ experience within the last 5 years, OR
    • 5 years’ experience within the last 10 years
  • Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures

Note: Some positions may require additional screening, including employment/education verification, motor vehicle records check, road test, and/or customer-specific badging or background requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and agency rules
  • Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards
  • Maintain accurate records and logs
  • Load/unload freight or assist with loading/unloading as required by the customer
  • Perform other duties as assigned
