About the Role
Ryder is hiring a local Yard Driver in Chambersburg, PA. This position offers weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a driving career with well-maintained, safe trucks (36 months or newer) featuring 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling at over 800 nationwide locations. Drivers operate yard trucks for no-touch yard moves of general freight, including 48' - 53' dry van and container trailers. Ryder provides paid training on all necessary equipment.
Pay
- Hourly Pay: $28.00 per hour
- Shift Pay: $1.00 per hour
- Guaranteed weekly earnings of $1,160 or more
- Paid weekly
Schedule
- Wednesday - Saturday
- Wednesday start time: 11:30 PM
- Thursday - Saturday start time: 5:30 PM
- 40 guaranteed hours per week

Responsibilities
- Safely handle and maneuver tractor-trailers on the yard and within designated public road areas
- Comply with safety and DOT regulations, including continuous training and customer service
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and agency laws, regulations, standards, and guidelines
- Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards
- Maintain accurate records and logs, including move and yard inventory records
- Perform other assigned tasks
Requirements
- Minimum 21 years of age
- Pass a Ryder drug test, background check, and motor vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years)
- Pass a DOT physical and Ryder road test
- Provide appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position
- Class A verifiable experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle:
- 9 months experience within the past 3 years, OR
- 2 years’ experience within the last 5 years, OR
- 5 years’ experience within the last 10 years
- Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
