Truck Driver CDL A Solo Regional

About the role

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL Truck Driver in Mt. Sterling, OH (postal code 43143). This is a regular full-time, solo regional position with additional work locations across Columbus, Obetz, Groveport, West Jefferson, Lockbourne, and Mt. Sterling, OH. Ryder purchases owner-operator trucks while providing support during the transition and throughout your career, and maintains a community that includes many military reservists and veterans.

Pay

• $1,340 weekly guarantee
• Hourly pay: $25.50 per hour
• Overtime paid after 40 hours
• 40+ hours per week
• Per diem pay: $50.00 per night
• Overnights for route in Ryder-booked hotel
• Loyalty bonus: $1,000 at 6 months and $1,000 at 1 year
• Paid training

Schedule

• Monday – Friday
• Start time: around 6:00 AM

Route & equipment

• Deliver solo to Florida and locations throughout the Eastern U.S.
• Away from home up to 85% of the time
• Tractor type: mixture of sleeper tractors with 53‑ft trailers and 26‑ft straight trucks
• Equipment: manual pallet jack and lift gate
• Freight: touch / driver assist – HVAC
• Ryder trains on all equipment needed
• Well‑maintained, safe trucks (36 months or newer) with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling at over 800 nationwide locations

Requirements

• Minimum 21 years of age
• Class A CDL with appropriate endorsements
• Verifiable Class A experience in a tractor‑trailer or comparable vehicle:
  • 9 months within the past 3 years, OR
  • 2 years within the last 5 years, OR
  • 5 years within the last 10 years
• 1 year dry van experience required
• Pass a Ryder drug test
• Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check (including drug/alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years)
• Pass a DOT physical
• Pass a Ryder road test
• Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
• Some positions may require additional screening (employment/education verification, MVR, road test, badging, or customer‑specific background requirements)

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines
• Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards
• Maintain accurate records and logs
• Load/unload freight or assist in loading/unloading if required by customer
• Perform other duties as assigned
