Truck Driver CDL A Hourly

About the role

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL Truck Driver in Groveport, OH. This is a solo driving position delivering to Florida and locations throughout the Eastern US, with up to 85% time away from home. Equipment includes a mixture of sleeper tractors with 53‑ft trailers and 26‑ft straight trucks. Freight is touch/driver‑assist HVAC, using manual pallet jacks and lift gates. Ryder provides paid training on all equipment. Trucks are 36 months or newer with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling at over 800 nationwide locations. One year dry van experience required.

Pay

• $1,340 weekly guarantee
• Hourly pay: $25.50 per hour
• Overtime paid after 40 hours
• 40+ hours per week
• Per diem: $50.00 per night
• Overnights in Ryder‑booked hotels
• Loyalty bonus: $1,000 at 6 months and $1,000 at 1 year

Schedule

• Monday – Friday
• Start time around 6:00 AM

Requirements

• Minimum 21 years of age
• Class A CDL with appropriate endorsements
• Verifiable Class A tractor‑trailer experience (one of the following):
  • 9 months within the past 3 years, OR
  • 2 years within the past 5 years, OR
  • 5 years within the past 10 years
• 1 year dry van experience required
• Pass Ryder drug test
• Pass Ryder background and motor vehicle check (including drug/alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years)
• Pass DOT physical
• Pass Ryder road test
• Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
• Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies and/or procedures

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards and guidelines
• Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards
• Maintain accurate records and logs
• Load/unload freight or assist in loading/unloading as required by customer
• Perform other duties as assigned
