Truck Driver CDL A Hourly

About the role

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL Truck Driver in Groveport, OH. This is a solo driving position delivering to Florida and locations throughout the Eastern U.S. Drivers are away from home up to 85% of the time. Equipment includes a mixture of sleeper tractors with 53‑ft trailers and 26‑ft straight trucks; Ryder provides training on all equipment. Freight is touch/driver‑assist HVAC, using manual pallet jacks and lift gates. One year of dry van experience is required. Trucks are 36 months or newer with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling at over 800 nationwide locations.

Pay

• $1,340 weekly guarantee
• Hourly rate: $25.50 per hour
• Overtime paid after 40 hours per week
• Typical hours: 40+ per week
• Per diem: $50.00 per night (overnights in Ryder‑booked hotels)
• Loyalty bonus: $1,000 at 6 months and $1,000 at 1 year
• Paid training

Schedule

• Monday – Friday
• Start time around 6:00 AM

• Solo routes to FL and throughout the Eastern U.S.
• Away from home up to 85% of the time

Requirements

• Minimum 21 years of age
• Pass a Ryder drug test
• Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
• Pass a DOT physical
• Pass a Ryder road test
• Provide appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position
• Class A verifiable experience in a tractor‑trailer or comparable vehicle:
  • 9 months experience within the past 3 years, OR
  • 2 years’ experience within the last 5 years, OR
  • 5 years’ experience within the last 10 years
• Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures
• Some positions may require additional screening such as employment/education verification, motor vehicle records check, road test, and/or customer‑specific badging or background requirements

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and agency rules, standards, and guidelines
• Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards
• Maintain accurate records and logs
• Load/unload freight or assist in loading/unloading as required by the customer
• Perform other duties as assigned
