About the role
As a Truck Driver, you will contribute to Wenger Corporation’s strategy to provide an exceptional customer experience by transporting materials and finished products to and from Wenger plants or other facilities in nearby communities in a timely and safe manner according to established schedules.
Requirements
- Must have a valid Minnesota Class A driver’s license
- Drug and alcohol-free driving record
- Current valid CDL and medical exam (preferred)
- Ability to operate a standard tractor/trailer rig with skill and safety
- Valid lift truck license (preferred)
Responsibilities
- Review work assignments, schedules, paperwork, and other documentation/directions to ensure timely delivery of materials and finished products
- Transport materials and finished products according to established delivery schedules, accounting for weather conditions
- Ensure maximum freight hauled per load, minimum trips to the Twin Cities, and reliable parts support for changing shop priorities
- Observe all traffic laws and drive in a safe, courteous manner at all times
- Perform in-plant shipping/receiving and material-handling duties, including inspection of materials for quality and packing, documenting missing/returned items, damaged goods, and shortages
- Assist in loading/unloading the truck
- Handle returns of pallets and dunnage from installation shipments
- Perform or ensure preventative and routine truck maintenance to minimize delays and unsafe conditions
- Represent Wenger with a positive and courteous image in all vendor contacts and relationships
- Maintain the dock area in a clean, orderly condition to minimize safety hazards and lost-time accidents
- Consistently follow all safety policies and practices, whether in-plant or on-the-road
- Perform light assembly of Wenger products at customer sites when necessary
- Remove dunnage from sites and load securely back onto the truck for return to Wenger
- Contribute to a cooperative work effort through timely, dependable, and safe performance of assigned duties
