Truck Driver
About the Role
Tiger-Sul, a division of Tessenderlo Kerley, is seeking a Truck Driver for their Atmore, AL Transportation Department. The Truck Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of sulfur bentonite fertilizers from plant facilities to customer locations via truck. This role ensures compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory standards while maintaining operational continuity and product integrity, providing customer service, and maintaining a professional image.
Responsibilities
- Operate various types of delivery trucks and trailers, prioritizing safety.
- Operate other equipment as required.
- Provide a customer-focused experience during deliveries.
- Be alert to customer needs and problems, and attempt to resolve them; advise supervisor of all customer service activities.
- Maintain high standards of courtesy and respect for customers and fellow employees.
- Develop professional relationships with customers.
- Maintain high company image standards for personal appearance and vehicle cleanliness.
- Arrange for routine truck maintenance and repair with supervisor in accordance with service intervals specified in the operations manual.
- Perform minor maintenance functions as required.
- Prepare cargo documents and other paperwork completely, accurately, and legibly to assure product quality.
- Ensure proper PPE and equipment are readily available for shipment.
- Safely make deliveries in a timely manner.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections.
- Ensure all safety equipment is used as needed.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and requirements.
- Maintain a safe work environment.
- Submit all paperwork and documentation to the office in a timely manner.
Requirements
- Knowledge of DOT regulations (CFR 49).
- Minimum 2 years of experience in bulk tanker transit.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to pull heavy hoses, climb ladders, and lift 50 pounds.
- Current CDL with hazardous material, tanker, and double-triple endorsements.
- Physically fit and able to possess and maintain a medical certificate.
- Must meet all company, state, and federal medical standards.
- Clean-shaven to ensure proper respirator use at pickup and delivery locations.
Physical Requirements
- Daily activities: Sitting (50%), Standing (35%), Walking (10%).
- Lift/Carry up to 100 lbs.
- Push up to 60 lbs.
- Pull up to 60 lbs.
- Kneel, squat, climb ladders/stairs.
Work Environment
Outdoor or facility-based operations involving hot, high-temperature materials. Exposure to potential chemical hazards requires full PPE and adherence to safety procedures. This is an over-the-road position with home time approximately every other night. Deliveries depend on plant location, with 3-5 loads per week and likely weekend work.
