About the role
Drive tractor-trailer unit to make deliveries and pick-ups of finished products, empty drums, and other materials. Perform truck safety inspections prior to each trip and maintain accurate DOT driver logs.
Responsibilities
- Assist with loading trailer according to bills of lading, ensuring optimal loading order for delivery stops.
- Conduct pre-trip truck inspections using the “Driver’s Daily Check List” and make necessary adjustments or corrections.
- Deliver materials to customer locations and assist with unloading as required.
- Obtain customer signatures for delivery acknowledgment.
- Pick up empty drums as instructed and unload them upon return to the plant.
- Complete DOT driver log sheets accurately.
- Return completed shipping paperwork to the shipping office.
- Notify supervisor of truck repair and maintenance needs and schedule accordingly.
Requirements
- High school diploma preferred.
- At least 5 years of prior experience driving tractor-trailer/tanker units.
- Hazardous material endorsement.
- Basic math, measurement, reading, and comprehension skills.
- Current CDL license with tanker and hazmat endorsements.
- Current DOT certification (medical card, identification card, etc.).
- Acceptable driving record for the past seven years as required by DOT.
- Forklift operation experience preferred.
- Must successfully complete forklift operation training and receive a license.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to walk, sit for extended periods, stand, bend, stoop, grasp, handle, talk, and hear.
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds using appropriate equipment.
Work Environment
The work environment varies, including different locations within the facility and customer sites while performing job tasks.
