Truck Driver

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain Class A vehicles in compliance with federal, state, and company regulations.
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections, checking brakes, tires, lights, and safety features, and promptly report issues.
  • Safely load, unload, and secure cargo to prevent damage during transport.
  • Plan efficient delivery routes, navigate traffic, and adhere to schedules using GPS or mapping tools.
  • Maintain accurate logs of mileage, delivery receipts, fuel and toll expenses, and adhere to hours-of-service rules.
  • Perform routine vehicle maintenance tasks (e.g., fluid checks, refueling, cleaning) to ensure vehicle readiness.
  • Communicate with dispatchers, management, and customers—report delays, incidents, or delivery issues.
  • Provide professional assistance during deliveries and uphold a positive company image.
  • Ensure correct paperwork, including bills of lading and proof-of-delivery, is completed and submitted.

Qualifications

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
  • Proven experience transporting goods in local or regional routes.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and vehicle inspection protocols.
  • Competency with GPS navigation, record-keeping, and managing delivery documentation.
  • Physical stamina to load/unload cargo and work extended hours if needed.
  • Excellent time-management, organization, attention to detail, and safe driving habits.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to deliver high-quality customer service.

Education and/or Experience

  • A high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience operating Class A vehicles in local or regional routes.
  • Familiarity with DOT regulations, vehicle inspection protocols, and safe cargo handling.
  • Experience using GPS navigation systems and maintaining accurate delivery documentation.

Reasoning Abilities

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly stand, walk, sit, and talk.
  • Frequently use hands and fingers to handle, feel, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to read and interpret documents.
