Physical Requirements
- Safely climb in and out of a tractor cab/trailer
- Sit for extended periods in a truck tractor
- Walk and stand for extended periods on various surfaces that may be uneven or slippery, including working outdoors in inclement weather
- Reach, including above the head, bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat, and kneel
- Operate a tractor-trailer combination in all types of weather while safely transporting materials
- Occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation, as provided in detail in the Job Analysis Database
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Class A CDL license required
- One plus years of experience driving dump or flatbed trucks
- Have and maintain an acceptable MVR in compliance with DOT requirements
- Able to follow all federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards, and guidelines
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Able to work well with other employees and customers
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve
Preferred Qualifications
- Two plus years of experience in regional or long-haul trucking
- Two plus years of experience in regional or long-haul trucking
- Hazmat endorsement and/or TWIC card
- Strong customer service skills
- Familiarity with ELD systems
Major Accountabilities
- Safely deliver and pick up scrap metal from various off-site facilities
- Review and secure Bill of Lading and other miscellaneous paperwork
- Inspect trucks and trailers before and after trips and report any issues
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, fuel use, and hours of service
- Communicate effectively with the Logistics & Scale Manager and customers
- Follow designated routes and meet delivery schedules
- Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the vehicle
- Ensure a safe work environment and contribute to a highly engaging culture that fosters safety, continuous improvement, teamwork, and trust
