Responsibilities

  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safe operation and report maintenance or repair issues.
  • Climb in and out of trucks safely using 3-points of contact.
  • Operate truck steering wheel, shifter, levers, and knobs necessary for truck and equipment operation.
  • Deliver materials to construction sites safely and efficiently, obeying applicable laws and following dispatch instructions.
  • Monitor gauges during operation, investigate abnormalities, and perform operator maintenance and minor field repairs.
  • Attach mixer truck chutes and add materials (fiber, color, or other additives) to the drum as required.
  • Attach hoses to tanks, open valves to discharge contents, observe for leaks or hazards, and store hoses and caps properly.
  • Drape chains over drive wheels of trucks when needed.
  • Ensure quality of delivered product and maintain communication with Dispatcher regarding deliveries.
  • Complete delivery tickets with special instructions and obtain required signatures.
  • Respond to customer questions about basic product knowledge and construction techniques.
  • Maintain operator logs, forms, and records per company policy and DOT regulations.
  • Report problems, faulty equipment, defective materials, and unusual conditions to maintenance personnel.
  • Maintain clean and orderly work areas and vehicles.
  • May operate front-end loaders or other equipment as needed.
  • Communicate with supervisors about flaws in materials and take action to avoid hazards or obstructions.
  • Participate in and promote an inclusive work environment.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Current Class A CDL and DOT medical card required.
  • Good depth perception and coordination to operate machine controls.
  • Must pass DOT physical exam and pre-employment controlled substance testing.
  • Safety sensitive position subject to pre-employment drug screening including nonpsychoactive cannabis metabolites per RCW 49.44.240.
  • Safety-minded professional with good performance and attendance.
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends/holidays.
  • Ability to work and communicate well with supervisors, drivers, equipment operators, and other employees.
  • Ability to conform to and maintain OSHA, MSHA, DOT, and company/state rules and regulations.
  • Ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions.
  • Willingness to learn and perform a variety of job tasks.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Current US work authorization or ability to obtain without company assistance prior to start date.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two years of general driving experience in a commercial or construction setting highly preferred.

Physical Requirements

The employee is frequently required to sit, climb, and use hands to signal and handle equipment. Occasionally required to stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, and reach with hands and arms above shoulders. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50–75 lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Work Environment

Occasionally exposed to wet/humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; outside weather; extreme cold/heat. Noise level is usually moderate.

Pay

$23.00 – $30.00/hr based on performance, experience, and seniority, with potential for overtime.
