Full-time, non-exempt position.

About the role

Trims and removes trees, branches, and trunk sections. Operates and services all required tools and equipment in a safe, efficient manner.

Responsibilities

• Trim and/or remove trees, branches, and trunk sections
• Operate and service chainsaws, chippers, and other hand/power tools
• Cut and split large debris into manageable pieces
• Spray areas to prevent further growth
• Load and unload trucks; feed brush into woodchipper
• Repair minor job-related damage to lawns, fences, and walkways
• Maintain and service gasoline, air, and hand-powered tools
• Relay hand signals, direct traffic, and operate trucks and equipment as assigned
• Keep trucks and work areas clear and orderly
• Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the work area
• Cooperate with customers, police, and fire departments when blocking streets or driveways
• Set up barriers, warning signs, flags, and markers to protect employees and the public
• Perform tree and bucket rescue
• Assist in training new employees
• Inspect tools, trucks, and equipment; request repairs or replacements as needed
• Maintain good housekeeping on trucks and at work locations
• Perform other related work as assigned by superiors

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Must be able to work with hands above head for extended periods
• Must be able to walk, climb, and work from ladders or at various heights on uneven and slippery surfaces
• Must be able to perform mentally and physically demanding work under unfavorable weather conditions while handling equipment or material
• No fear of heights
• Good hand-to-eye coordination
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; entry-level position (no experience required, previous experience is a plus)
• Upon offer, may be required to pass pre-employment drug screen, background check, and/or MVR check
• Driver’s license preferred but not required

Physical Requirements

• Rare (less than 10%): Sitting, kneeling, crawling, color vision, climbing stairs
• Occasional (up to 33%): Stooping, squatting, climbing on/off truck, climbing ladders, pushing, reading
• Frequent (up to 66%): Carrying, pulling, lifting up to 50 lbs., balancing, body-twisting, hearing/speech range, lifting up to 10 lbs., manual dexterity, speaking clearly, walking
• Continuous (up to 100%): Standing, sense of touch, gripping, seeing distant, reaching, range-of-motion, depth perception, lifting over 10 lbs. to 50 lbs., climbing poles
