About the role
Our crews trim, top, and reshape trees to remove low-hanging, dead, and excess branches, providing clearance for utility powerlines. This full-time, non-exempt position involves working in diverse weather conditions, including wind, rain, sunshine, or snow.
Responsibilities
- Trim and/or remove trees, branches, and trunk sections.
- Operate and service all required tools and equipment.
- Cut and split large debris into manageable pieces.
- Spray areas with equipment to prevent further growth.
- Load and unload trucks.
- Feed brush and debris into a woodchipper.
- Repair minor job-related damage to lawns, fences, and walkways.
- Service gasoline, air, and hand-powered tools and other equipment.
- Relay hand signals, direct traffic, drive, and operate trucks and equipment, as assigned.
- Keep trucks and work areas clear and orderly.
- Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the work area.
- Cooperate with customers, police, and fire departments when blocking streets or driveways.
- Set up barriers, warning signs, flags, markers, etc., to protect employees and the public.
- Perform tree and bucket rescue.
- Assist in training new employees.
- Inspect and ensure proper working conditions of tools, trucks, and other work equipment; request repair or replacement when necessary.
- Maintain good housekeeping on trucks and at work locations.
- Perform other related work as assigned by superiors.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must be able to work with hands above head for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to walk, climb, and work from ladders or at various heights, on uneven and slippery surfaces.
- Must be able to perform mentally and physically demanding work under unfavorable weather conditions while handling equipment or material.
- No fear of heights.
- Good hand-to-eye coordination.
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred; entry-level position, no experience required (previous experience is a plus).
- Upon offer, employees may be required to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check, and/or MVR check.
- Driver’s License is preferred but not required.
