Trimmer B

About the role

The Trimmer B (TB) is a skilled climber or trimmer at a mid-level position contributing to either a conventional crew or a bucket crew. The Trimmer B performs most aerial tasks, excluding the most challenging tree removals or overhang removals.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize safety as a core value and uphold all safety measures.
• Demonstrate trustworthiness and responsibility in all job-related activities.
• Apply comprehensive understanding of proper pruning techniques, including natural and directional pruning.
• Meet all requirements for the Climber C classification.
• Demonstrate expertise in climbing trees near energized lines and performing various maintenance tasks, except for the most difficult ones.
• Safely remove overhangs with suitable assistance and conduct routine pruning around open wire secondary and primary electrical conductors.
• Safely remove most trees that present a danger to owner facilities.
• Possess a solid working knowledge of chipper, split-dump, chain saws, and bucket equipment (if applicable).
• Maintain excellent customer relations.
• If assigned to a bucket crew, possess a solid understanding of bucket operations and effectively utilize the bucket and hydraulic circular saw within the equipment's limitations.
• Join storm restoration efforts in times of need.
• Inspect Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and understand when to wear it.
• Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order.
• Perform rigorous physical labor.
• Understand proper use of company radio and hand tools.
• Receive and follow directions.
• Work at heights and/or confined spaces.
• Work outside, frequently in inclement weather.
• Perform all other related work as required to complete the job.
• Read, write, and communicate effectively.
• Follow established Safety Rules and Company Policy.

Requirements

• Minimum 1+ year of relevant experience.
• Able to read and communicate effectively in English (bilingual Spanish/English a plus).
• Valid driver’s license (Commercial Driver’s License strongly preferred).
• Able to travel long distances on short notice when required.
• Able to work for extended periods in various locations when required.
• Able to lift in excess of 50 lbs.
• Willing to work overtime when requested.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described are typical for vegetation management roles. While performing the duties of this job, team members are regularly required to:

• Talk or hear.
• Stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, and feel, and reach with hands and arms.
• Perform rigorous physical labor, including sitting, standing for extended periods, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
• Lift or move up to or in excess of 50 lbs.

Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, team members may frequently be exposed to:

• Fumes or airborne particles.
• Moving mechanical parts and vibration.
• A variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites.
• Loud noise levels.
• Diverse weather conditions, as vegetation clearing work is performed outside.
