Trend Research Intern
About the role
At Weissman, we believe the next generation of talent is part of our legacy to the fashion industry. Our Summer Internship Program offers students meaningful, real-world experience inside a leading dance and performance apparel company. For more than 60 years, Weissman has brought creativity, innovation, and craftsmanship to the stage, translating inspiration from fashion, performance, and the runway into products worn by performers around the world. Over 10 weeks, interns work alongside professionals across our business, contributing to real projects and gaining firsthand exposure to how ideas move from inspiration and concept through design, development, marketing, and ultimately into the hands of our customers. Along the way, interns participate in professional development, networking, and experiences designed to broaden their understanding of both the fashion industry and the business behind it. We view our interns as more than summer team members. They are emerging professionals who will help shape what comes next. Our goal is to give them the experience, relationships, and opportunities to begin building careers of their own while bringing fresh perspectives and new ideas to ours.
Location: On‑Site (St. Louis, Missouri)
Responsibilities
- Research aspirational, micro, and stage/runway trends to inspire design sketches
- Collaborate on raw material selection, helping identify key fabrics and materials that align with macro trends
- Create mood boards with focus palettes and key stories to support the design direction
- Assist with trend recaps, concept development, line reviews, and styling guides
- Contribute to trend checkpoints and alerts, ensuring collections align with overall trend direction
Qualifications
- Current college student or May 2027 graduate pursuing a degree related to the internship area
- Able to relocate to St. Louis, Missouri for the duration of the 10-week summer program
- Strong interest in fashion, apparel, or related industries with a desire to learn and grow professionally
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to contribute ideas and work effectively in a team environment
- Detail-oriented, organized, and eager to take on real-world projects in a fast-paced setting
