About the Role

As a Trimmer/Climber, you will perform tree trimming, removal, and related tasks while operating and maintaining tools and equipment. This role involves working at heights, in various weather conditions, and requires physical stamina and adherence to safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Trim and/or remove trees, branches, and trunk sections.
  • Operate and service all required tools and equipment, including gasoline, air, and hand-powered tools.
  • Cut and split large debris into manageable pieces.
  • Spray areas with equipment to prevent further growth.
  • Load and unload trucks; feed brush and debris into a woodchipper.
  • Repair minor job-related damage to lawns, fences, and walkways.
  • Relay hand signals, direct traffic, drive, and operate trucks and equipment as assigned.
  • Maintain trucks and work areas in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the work area.
  • Cooperate with customers, police, and fire departments when blocking streets or driveways.
  • Set up barriers, warning signs, flags, markers, etc., to protect employees and the public.
  • Perform tree and bucket rescue when trained.
  • Assist in training new employees.
  • Inspect and ensure proper working conditions of tools, trucks, and other work equipment; request repairs or replacements as necessary.
  • Maintain good housekeeping on trucks and at work locations.
  • Perform other related work as assigned by superiors.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be able to work with hands above head for extended periods.
  • Must be able to walk, climb, and work from ladders or at various heights, on uneven and slippery surfaces, performing mentally and physically demanding work under unfavorable weather conditions while handling equipment or material.
  • No fear of heights.
  • Good hand-to-eye coordination.
  • Minimum of 4,000 hours of previous line clearance tree trimming experience.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • Rare (less than 10%): Sitting, Kneeling, Crawling, Color Vision, Climbing Stairs
  • Occasional (up to 33%): Stooping, Squatting, Climbing On/Off Truck, Climbing Ladders, Pushing, Reading
  • Frequent (up to 66%): Carrying, Pulling, lifting up to 50 lbs., Balancing, body-twisting, Hearing/Speech Range, Lifting up to 10 lbs., Manual Dexterity, Speaking Clearly, Walking
  • Continuous (up to 100%): Standing, Sense of Touch, Gripping, Seeing Distant, Reaching, range-of-motion, Depth Perception, lifting over 10 lbs. to 50 lbs., Climbing Poles

License & Certifications

  • A Driver's License is preferred but not required.

Pre-Screen

Upon offer, employees may be required to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check, and/or MVR check.
