We are hiring Entry-level and Skilled Trimmers and Climbers. On-the-job training is provided, offering the perfect opportunity to build a career in the Line Clearance industry. Our crews trim, top, and reshape trees to remove low-hanging, dead, and excess branches, providing clearance for utility powerlines.

About the Role

This full-time, non-exempt position involves trimming and removing trees to maintain clearance for utility powerlines. You’ll work outdoors in various weather conditions, using tools and equipment to climb, cut, and manage tree debris.

Responsibilities

• Trim and/or remove trees by climbing with the aid of ladders, safety belts, climbing lines, powered trimmer lift trucks, or from the ground using gasoline, air, and hand-powered saws, pruners, etc.
• Cut branches or trunk sections and drop or lower them to the ground with lines.
• Use wedges, sledges, and chain saws to fell trees or trimmed trunks and split logs into manageable pieces.
• Operate and service all required tools and equipment, including bucket trucks near energized lines.
• Obtain written or oral permission from property owners to trim or remove trees.
• Promote and maintain good customer and public relations through effective work and professional behavior.
• Spray areas to prevent further growth and feed brush/debris into woodchippers.
• Load/unload trucks, repair minor job-related damage (e.g., lawns, fences), and service equipment.
• Direct traffic, operate trucks and equipment, and maintain a clean work area.
• Set up barriers, warning signs, flags, and markers to protect employees and the public.
• Train new employees and assist in tree/bucket rescue operations.
• Inspect tools, trucks, and equipment for proper working conditions and request repairs as needed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Ability to work with hands above head for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
• Must be able to walk, climb ladders, and work at heights on uneven or slippery surfaces.
• No fear of heights and good hand-to-eye coordination.
• Willingness to work long hours, overtime, holidays, and weekends during emergencies.
• Ability to obtain a Driver’s License or Commercial Driver’s License when required.
• Ability to obtain a Herbicide license when required.
• Ability to report and/or travel for storm emergencies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred (not required).
• Entry-level position; no prior experience required, though previous experience is a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Rare (less than 10%): Sitting, kneeling, crawling, color vision, climbing stairs.
• Occasional (up to 33%): Stooping, squatting, climbing on/off trucks, climbing ladders, pushing, reading.
• Frequent (up to 66%): Carrying, pulling, lifting up to 50 lbs., balancing, body-twisting, hearing/speech range, lifting up to 10 lbs., manual dexterity, speaking clearly, walking.
• Continuous (up to 100%): Standing, sense of touch, gripping, seeing distant, reaching, range-of-motion, depth perception, lifting over 10 lbs. to 50 lbs., climbing poles.

Due to the inherently dangerous nature of the work, employees must have sufficient eyesight, attention, and concentration to operate equipment safely. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment, endure various terrains, and communicate effectively. Work involves exposure to all weather conditions, irritating plants, biting/stinging insects, energized equipment, traffic, high voltage wires, and falling limbs.
