Tree Climber - 2 years experience

About the role

The Professional Tree Care Company is seeking a full-time, year-round Tree Climber with at least two years of experience. This position offers a competitive starting hourly rate of $32.00 to $36.00, depending on experience, gear, and company culture.

Responsibilities

• Safely performing all aspects of arboriculture, including daily climbing to heights of between 10-to-150 feet using various climbing systems
• Managing a team of Grounds-people and Climbers Apprentices, confirming timecards, and assigning tasks
• Identifying and performing tree inventories, risk assessments, and installing bracing, cabling, and lightning protection systems
• Pruning, thinning, and removing dead wood from trees
• Removing dangerous and/or hazardous trees
• Ensuring the health, safety, and beauty of trees
• Providing routine tree maintenance and insect/disease management
• Performing emergency tree services, such as removing fallen trees
• Learning, understanding, and adhering to all safety rules and company policies
• Ensuring work sites are clean and hazard-free
• Participating in safety meetings and assisting with process improvements
• Following verbal and written instructions

Requirements

• TWO YEARS experience as a TREE CLIMBER or production Arborists
• Reliable transportation to drive to job sites throughout the greater Bay Area
• Clean and current California Driver's License
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
• Physically fit, able to lift +/-50 pounds, and work comfortably at heights for much of the workday
• Proficiency with a roping system (Double or Single Rope Technique)
• A proven record of using chainsaws, harnesses, ropes, and other climbing gear safely
• Soft skills: ability to lead by example, hardworking, emotionally intelligent
• Tree certifications or coursework related to tree trimming, maintenance, and/or arboriculture
• Experience in a supervisory position
• Having a Class-A driver's license in good standing
• Owning a wide variety of sturdy climbing gear
• Speaking Spanish or having enough industry Spanish proficiency to lead a crew

Work Environment

As our newest Climber, you'll work full-time, year-round, Monday through Friday, arriving at 6:15 a.m. and starting at 6:30 a.m., with a variety of job sites throughout Northern California.
