About the role
This position is primarily responsible for ensuring patients understand and schedule necessary treatment, as well as coordinating communications between doctors and patients, and helping to build and maintain a doctor/hygiene schedule.
The office is constantly striving for improved customer care and service, and the ideal candidate will be able to adapt to office policy improvements and have experience with conflict resolution and customer service or patient relations.
Responsibilities
- Conduct patient consultations and calculate fees for treatment based on various fee schedules
- Assist patients with financing options, insurance questions, and treatment concerns
- Maintain and use tickler files and delayed treatment files
- Notify patients when pre-estimates come back and schedule appointments after making proper financial arrangements
- Prepare in advance treatment consent forms, including surgical, endodontic, and general consents
- Record chart entries from phone or in-person conversations when appropriate
- Manage doctor charts for treatment plans, treatment conferences, letters, and phone calls
- Prepare financial treatment plans and present plan options to patients at the end of their appointment
- Assist with consultation appointments as directed by the doctor
- Make all financial arrangements with the patient after the doctor has left the consultation room
- Set up appointments for patients with specialists or general dentists and coordinate with their offices
- Monitor and ensure all dental office equipment is working properly
- Be an active participant in staff meetings and perform other tasks as assigned by the office manager
Requirements
- High school diploma
- Legible handwriting for communications
- Knowledge of dental software is a plus
- Office experience is desired

- Good interpersonal skills to maintain effective rapport with patients, dentists, other staff members, and the community
- Effective verbal skills to communicate with patients and staff
- Ability to adapt to office policy improvements
- Conflict resolution experience
- Customer service or patient relations experience
- Quick response and accurate data entry skills
