Treasury Risk Analyst
This role is located in New York City and requires a hybrid work schedule of at least 2 days in office per week. Officer-level candidates preferred.

Department Overview
The Americas Division (“AD”) was established in the Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, Limited, New York Branch (“SMTBNY”) to perform corporate functions and supervise U.S. entities. The division includes the Global Banking Unit (“GBU”), Americas Division and Global Market Unit (“GMU”), Americas Division. The Treasury Team (“MTR”) focuses on funding activities, security, and forex investments, divided into ALM and Investment Accounts. The Front Office Risk Management & Administration Team (“FORMAT/MFM”) is responsible for establishing and maintaining a sound risk management structure regarding compliance and operational risks within the GMU.
About the Role
This position combines responsibilities as a Treasury Risk Analyst and FORMAT Analyst.
- Treasury Risk Analyst: Monitor liquidity risks in the Americas Division to comply with internal and regulatory requirements. Provide liquidity risk monitoring reports, perform stress scenario updates, and improve reporting accuracy and timeliness.
- FORMAT Analyst: Monitor regulations and work with risk owners to ensure GMU compliance. Assist with credit line management, account maintenance, and risk management infrastructure for traders. Liaise with Head Office as needed.
Responsibilities
- Treasury Risk Analyst:
- Ensure stress testing is performed to assess the impact of cash movements for heightened monitoring and reporting.
- Collect, analyze, and scrutinize liquidity risk data from various departments; update stress test scenarios, assumptions, and contingency funding plans.
- Implement and ensure adherence to other risk management frameworks.
- FORMAT Analyst:
- Monitor regulations and work with risk owners to ensure GMU compliance with all required regulations.
- Create regulatory frameworks for GMU as needed.
- Perform transactions and counterparty reviews; prepare monthly reports.
- Manage operational risk, lead project teams, and develop or improve internal controls.
- Assist with procedure manual updates, FRB/NYSDFS examinations, compliance testing, and audits.
- Ensure proper credit line and counterparty risk management.
- Liaise with Head Office as required.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in finance, economics, data processing, or programming with 5+ years of related experience.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Outlook); intermediate knowledge of Excel.
- Basic understanding of Visual Basic Application, SQL, Access, and PowerPoint preferred.
- Knowledge of risk management and market products/services preferred.
- Understanding of key liquidity regulations such as Reg YY, FR 2052a, LCR, and NSFR.
- Knowledge of ISDA and CSA preferred.
- Prior work experience in a financial institution preferred.
