About the role

The Washington Schoolgirls Lacrosse Association (WSLA) is seeking a volunteer Treasurer to join their board and oversee the organization's financial activities. This is a key leadership role responsible for maintaining fiscal integrity, transparency, and accountability.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of WSLA’s financial operations
  • Monthly review of financial records prepared by bookkeeper (currently use QuickBooks)
  • Prepare monthly and annual financial reports for the Board of Directors
  • Develop and monitor the annual budget
  • Ensure compliance with nonprofit financial regulations and reporting requirements
  • Manage banking, invoicing, and payment processing (not currently; bookkeeper does and reports to MD)
  • File annual tax returns
  • Collaborate with other board members on financial planning and fundraising efforts
  • Executive member of Board; participate in all Board meetings and decision making
  • May lead non-financial committees as requested

Qualifications

  • Familiar with WSLA and Girls’ Lacrosse
  • Background in accounting, finance, or bookkeeping
  • Experience with nonprofit financial management preferred
  • Understanding of QuickBooks or similar accounting software
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with IRS 501(c)(3) compliance (or ability to research as required)
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Passion for youth sports and supporting female athletes
