Travelling ICC Inspector / CMT Technician

Responsibilities
- Performs construction-related field testing and inspections as directed by the Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Manager and Senior Engineer.
- Travels to various construction sites primarily throughout the West Texas area with the potential likely for overnight and/or weekend work as needed.
- Performs field soil and Hot-Mix Asphalt (HMA) density testing using a nuclear density gauge and maintains proper handling procedures in accordance with radiation safety and HAZMAT requirements.
- Performs field quality control testing of in-place concrete, including sampling and testing procedures.
- Performs IBC Chapter 17 Special Inspections of Reinforced Concrete, Soils, Structural Masonry, Fireproofing, Firestopping, Structural Steel and Bolting, Welding, as applicable.
- Relays information to project manager and/or engineer, with limited in-field decision making.
- Transports equipment, test specimens, and documentation to field personnel, laboratory staff, clients, or other offices.
- Provides assistance with equipment setup and testing preparation at project sites.
- Enters daily field observation reports and summary reports electronically.
- Assists other technicians and professional staff with tasks and supports other departments as necessary.
- Follows Atlas safety plans, programs, policies, and procedures.
- Supports projects from proposal through completion to ensure scope, schedule, budget and quality objectives are met.
- Maintains communication with clients, contractors, and senior staff as needed.
- Directs, where necessary, various activities at projects sites.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Willingness to travel and/or relocate to projects in West Texas.
- Willingness to work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends, or nights often in excess of 50 hours per week.
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
- 2+ years of Construction Materials Testing (CMT) experience.
- Experience performing soil density testing using a nuclear density gauge.
- Completion of Nuclear Density Gauge Safety Training and HAZMAT certification.
- Experience performing concrete testing.
- Ability to lift and transport testing equipment.
- Ability to maintain clear communication with clients, contractors, Atlas team members, etc.
- Ability to lift and transport material samples and testing equipment, possibly in excess of 50 lbs.
- Ability to submit daily summary reports and supporting data electronically on a daily basis.
- ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade IAPNGA/HAZMAT Certification for Nuclear Density Gauges
- ACI Concrete Compressive Strength a Plus
- TXAPA, NICET, or ICC Certifications (Reinforced Concrete & Soils) a Plus
- OSHA 10 HR - A Plus
- Experience in Quality Assurance/Quality Control.

Pay
Salary range: $50,000 - $80,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
Schedule
Full-time position with flexible hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends, or nights often in excess of 50 hours per week.
