Summary
We are seeking a self-motivated and reliable Water/Wastewater Operations Technician to support multiple sites across the region. This position requires approximately 90% travel, supporting plant operations, startups, troubleshooting, and coverage needs. The ideal candidate is adaptable, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working independently in a variety of plant environments.
Responsibilities
- Plant Operations
- Conduct water sample testing to monitor plant performance and optimize operations
- Adjust treatment processes (TSS, pH, turbidity, chemical feed rates) to meet system requirements
- Maintain accurate logs and operational records
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Diagnose and repair pumps, motors, drives, valves, and related equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance and equipment inspections
- Calibrate mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems
- Safety & Compliance
- Follow all safety procedures, including PPE use, chemical handling, and emergency response
- Perform routine safety checks and ensure compliance with site and company standards
- Communication & Reporting
- Communicate issues, performance concerns, and updates clearly to operations leadership and customers
- Use digital tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, Safety Culture, and other company systems) to document operational data, inspections, and performance metrics
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum 2 years of related experience (operations, maintenance, or production)
- Ability to work independently at remote sites with minimal supervision
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 90% of the time
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts (2/2/3 or 7-on/7-off schedules)
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening
Qualifications
- Experience in water/wastewater treatment operations
- State wastewater operator certification (Georgia or ability to obtain)
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
Physical Requirements
- Ability to use a workstation using computer/phone
- Lifting will be involved (up to 50 lbs.)
- When at job sites or fabrication shops, will be required to inspect equipment
- Bending, stooping, walking on ladders, walkways/catwalks (may involve heights)
- May involve being in a safety harness
- Exposure to elements: cold, heat, wet, and/or dark
- May involve utilizing hands and being around mechanical parts
- May be required to be clean shaven and fit tested for proper respiratory equipment
