About the Role

You’ll manage the construction and administrative activities associated with field operations from day one, ensuring projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and according to specifications. This is a long-term career opportunity for an experienced leader who thrives outside the trailer.

Responsibilities

  • Attend the post-award review meeting to receive project details for preplanning before construction.
  • Collaborate with the project manager to prepare a construction schedule, organizational structure, staffing plan, and equipment requirements.
  • Direct and control the entire construction project to meet specifications, timelines, and profit expectations.
  • Assist the project manager/engineer with duties such as coordinating material shipments, obtaining approvals for shop drawings, and managing subcontractor activities.
  • Communicate construction schedule changes promptly to supervisors and subcontractors.
  • Assist in preparing job progress and cost reports to reflect actual expenditures accurately.
  • Review and approve requisitions, field purchase orders, invoices, and other key documents.
  • Maintain open communication with the owner and their representatives regarding construction progress.
  • Foster positive relationships with architects or owner representatives while advocating for the company’s long-term interests.
  • Hold job site meetings with the project manager and regional manager to discuss progress, plans, and challenges.
  • Report regularly to the project manager on job progress, potential cost impacts, and scheduling issues.
  • Maintain a daily diary to document significant project events, conditions, visitor interactions, and approvals.
  • Enforce the company’s safety program across all project phases and areas.
  • Make decisions under tight deadlines and manage multiple activities, people, tools, and equipment.
  • Demonstrate leadership by addressing challenges, directing teams, and resolving conflicts effectively.
  • Commit to quality by evaluating processes, incorporating customer feedback, and exceeding expectations.
  • Act with integrity, aligning actions with company values and maintaining a focus on customer requirements.

Requirements

  • 5–25 years of construction experience, with at least 5 years as a lead superintendent on cold storage projects of 100K sq ft or larger.
  • At least five years of recent experience working within the Southeast region.
  • Willingness to travel nationally.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and project scheduling programs.
  • Possession of a current, valid driver’s license in your state of residence.
  • Ability to meet physical demands, including standing or walking for long periods (occasionally on uneven terrain), bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
