Traveling Superintendent, Construction

We are seeking a highly committed, safety-focused leader with a passion for superior quality to manage construction projects from the field. This is a long-term career opportunity based in Savannah, GA.

About the Role

You will manage the construction and administrative activities of ground-up, light industrial projects (100K sq ft and above) from day one, ensuring completion on schedule, within budget, and to project specifications.

Responsibilities

• Attend post-award review meetings to receive project details for preplanning before construction.
• Collaborate with the project manager to prepare construction schedules, organizational structure, staffing, and equipment requirements.
• Direct and control the entire construction project to meet specifications, timelines, and profit expectations.
• Assist the project manager/engineer with duties including material shipments, approvals for shop drawings, and material samples.
• Coordinate subcontractor activities to align with project schedules and progress.
• Communicate construction schedule changes promptly to supervisors and subcontractors.
• Assist in preparing job progress and cost reports to reflect actual expenses accurately.
• Review and approve requisitions, field purchase orders, invoices, and other key documents.
• Maintain open communication with owners and their representatives regarding construction progress.
• Foster cooperative relationships with architects and owner representatives while prioritizing company interests.
• Conduct job site meetings with the project manager and regional manager.
• Report regularly to the project manager on progress, plans, and potential cost/schedule impacts.
• Maintain a daily diary to record significant project events, conditions, and decisions.
• Enforce the company’s safety program across all project phases and areas.
• Make decisions under tight deadlines and manage multiple activities to achieve desired results.
• Demonstrate leadership by addressing challenges, directing teams, and resolving conflicts effectively.
• Commit to quality by evaluating processes, incorporating customer feedback, and exceeding expectations.
• Act with integrity, supporting company values and maintaining a focus on customer requirements.

Requirements

• 5–25 years of construction experience, with at least 5 years as a lead superintendent on warehouse or distribution center projects (minimum 100K sq ft).
• Willingness to travel nationally.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and project scheduling programs.
• Valid driver’s license in your state of residence.
• Ability to meet physical demands, including standing/walking for long periods (sometimes on uneven terrain), bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
