About the role

The Traveling Skilled Construction Technician is a cross-trained craft professional responsible for supporting interior construction activities on tenant improvement, renovation, retail refresh, and light industrial projects throughout the United States.

This role performs a variety of construction tasks across multiple trades, including framing, drywall, ceilings, flooring preparation, doors and hardware, finishes, and punch list activities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general construction activities supporting tenant improvement, renovation, retail refresh, and light industrial projects.
  • Independently execute assigned interior construction scopes based on skill level and support Multi-Trade Carpenters on larger or more complex installations.
  • Perform selective demolition and removal of existing building materials and finishes.
  • Support installation of metal stud framing, gypsum board systems, acoustical ceilings (ACT), and interior specialties.
  • Perform flooring preparation activities, including patching, leveling, grinding, and surface preparation.
  • Assist with installation of doors, frames, hardware, trim, and finish carpentry components.
  • Support painting, drywall finishing, tile installation, punch list, and project closeout activities as assigned.
  • Read and interpret basic construction drawings, specifications, and work instructions to complete assigned tasks.
  • Perform basic layout, measurements, and material preparation for assigned work activities.
  • Load, unload, transport, stage, and organize materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and basic construction equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment throughout all phases of construction.
  • Follow company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and all applicable regulations.
  • Execute assigned work activities under the direction of the Foreman and coordinate effectively with project team members.
  • Assist with project mobilization and demobilization activities.
  • Travel to project locations as required.
  • Participate in safety meetings, training programs, and skill development opportunities.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Two (2) or more years of construction, renovation, tenant improvement, retail, hospitality, industrial, facilities maintenance, or related experience preferred.
  • Experience performing general construction activities, including demolition, framing support, drywall installation, ceilings, material handling, flooring preparation, and punch list work preferred.
  • Experience safely using hand tools, power tools, measuring devices, and basic construction equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic construction drawings, specifications, and work instructions preferred.
  • Experience working on commercial construction, renovation, or occupied-facility projects preferred.
  • OSHA 10 certification required or ability to obtain; OSHA 30 preferred.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout the United States.

Pay

Pay range: $24- $32 per hour. Actual pay depends on education, experience, and performance.

Schedule

This is a travel-intensive, field-based role supporting projects nationwide. Extensive travel to work on-site at active construction locations for extended periods based on project needs.
