Traveling Project Manager
Position Summary
Our Project Managers are experienced in commercial HVAC and Mechanical Construction and enjoy the challenge of unique designs, projects, and deadlines. You will coordinate multiple jobs simultaneously, provide leadership to project engineers, and partner with field staff to ensure flawless project delivery. You will manage project milestones, identify and coordinate resource requirements, and exercise high-level judgment autonomously within company processes. You are willing to learn the Southland way of doing work and are eager to contribute to the team.
Position Details
- Support a single large project or multiple projects managed by Senior Project Managers and Project Engineers
- Work with craftsman, foreman, and owners to plan projects from start to finish
- Utilize LEAN principles and understand the owner's needs to deliver projects successfully
- Manage project finances and keep projects on track
- Mentor early-career professionals and help prepare them for their next steps in their profession
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of building systems, HVAC, mechanical, process piping, including design, construction, and how these systems work
- Fanatical about planning, innovating, and improving processes
- Ability to plan 3 to 6 months ahead and achieve successful progress and outcomes
- Experience running jobs, tracking field production, and building relationships that inspire people to work hard
- Ability to think outside the box and lead the team in driving innovative construction techniques and prefabrication strategies
- Experience managing mechanical construction projects for a mechanical company
- Accountability and initiative in project management
- Problem-solving skills and understanding of what it takes to get the job done for both customer and company
- Strong leadership skills, business acumen, and integrity
- Understanding of project financials and forecasting
- Good relationships with the field and understanding how to get the best out of people
- Collaborative spirit with multiple stakeholders
